when my colleague approached me during the conference's dinner and asked, so was it worth all your hard work? i had to say yes and no. yes on learning new things and no for the stupidity of everything. i had a recurring dream for three nights in a row concerning the conference, despite the fact that it was over for good last week. i wonder why. probably i am still thinking of the annoyance that it brings. of how hard we have worked within a month just to make sure everything goes well. oh well, we did it anyway. of course it was far from perfect, but at least 'someone' is relieved that it was not canceled. but i have to tell, that cleaning up someone's mess is not as easy as it looks.
having to deal with funny scenes and childish act is another thing. i do not know what to say or how to react in the first place. but i can say that i am extremely sad, when our own students can scream 'shut up' at us. beyond tolerance. beyond words. it feels as though we have failed in nurturing the students with the soft skills and positive attitudes. we have failed indeed. we have created volunteers that expect us to give them something in return. i noticed that on the very first day i met them, to which they have started asking me on the money, and food even before i managed to distribute the tasks. oh dear. that should explain the theory of being boycott during the dinner.
i have many things to rant about the conference, and i think i can go on and on till tomorrow. i just hope that our dearest friend would soon realized that students come and go. it is us that will be here for the next 25 years or so. that friendship doesn't blend well with professionalism. that it took crazy people to say yes and help a friend who actually left the helping friends in the end. hmm...thinking about this makes me wanna cry.
so, was the conference worth all the hard work... the extended working hours.....the tears...the panic.....of being yelled at...of having to face sarcasm from many people....of the silly drama...i would have to ... YES... ha ha ha... we have bunch of crazy people in the dept.... we will make time for everything, and we will strive and do the best we could.
and oh yeah please please stop asking me the question. it is pure mental torture. thank you.
