Sit for 2 mins & ponder how much you love your work. If it takes u 2 secs to say that you do, then rest assured that you are on the right track.
But once in a blue moon when a horrible management issues happened, you'll be sitting for 2 hours thinking and thinking endlessly whether it is worth staying. Like today, it took less than 7 mth for my super junior to get her pencen status. It has been almost 5 yrs since my permanent status & I should hv gotten it way back in 2009. Despite countless times asking for updates and there were also some intense moments with the previous staffs, I still lost my case. I know that it doesnt have a strong implication, but it is an indication that people takes you lightly. Now that is not good right.
It has been almost 8 mths now since my request to purchase such a small item for the lab, to be used by FYP students and the programmes. It is just so silly that the kids are testing their sample using a pH paper! Yup s-i-l-l-y! They need just a simple electronic pH meter. This also, needs constant follow up as they will start processing the forms only after you asked them about it. One stage at a time. That was freaking weird and silly and this grew a monster in me. Remember Incredible Hulk ~ u dont like me when I am angry~ Or in my case, think Ogre in Shrek. A little less intimidating but still gross none the less. My application was frozen by their superior without justification to the staff, and surprisingly to me. In fact no information about it all, let alone sharing the reasons behind it. Frustrating! It took less than 2 mths for others to just buy whatever things they needed for the programme. Some days, I just couldnt care less anymore, I just hope the EAC panels will tell them right smack on their face that, even high school these days have better lab facilities.
Sometimes I wonder why does it have to be that way. Do they need some motivation (money or fame) to just help others getting their rights. Respect is so expensive, that you have to earn it. Somehow now it is a luxury only to those with status and power and until you become successful enough you can swallow others easily, you will be forever be left unnoticed and useless. Despite all these crazy dramas and all, I just thought over the last 5 yrs, I have served and fulfill my responsibilities to the best of my ability. So I just keep on doing it, as at this stage, it is the only thing meaningful and is making me happy.
Maybe some days things will change and get better, when people are no longer power deprived and money driven. Some day... Until then, I just have to pack my bags & starts thinking about the place that I'll be spending for the next 3 years.
