Granma always had her way of making us laugh sampai nak pengsan ok. Probably because of the way she pronounced the words hehe…Imagine dialek kelantan vs sabahans. She will teach us new words everytime we meet her, which is good la kan…She has big influence in my life as she was the one who took care of me when I was barely walking everytime mom goes to work. In fact, I stayed with her until I was 2 or 3, and mom took me to sabah to be with her. I grew up in sabah since then but we keep visiting granma yearly. Mok always teased me saying that everytime jumpa dia when I was smaller mesti masuk dalam baju dia. Yes, I was so attached to her that I mesti nak susu badan with her kalau nak tido. But of coz tipu2 jer kan…takde air susu…Hehehe… Aiyak, cant belive me so manja to that extend…
And she made the best gulai siput and gulai ikan keli. Yummmieee….I can just smell and taste it in my mouth simply by thinking of it….Aduila…lapar pulak since x breakfast lagi. She is like all that atuk2 that will keep on asking “dah siap pack brg ke?” or “dah siap ke semua?” and selagi I x siap lagi everytime I have to go somewhere, be it balik hostel ke masa sekolah, or during uni days…my granma will keep on asking me. Mok was the one yg temankan aku masa register kat mrmskt dulu and also was by my side when I had my first plane trip alone from KK. Sampai sakit2 kaki dia and bengkak berjalan coz kitorang sesat kat airport. Buleh ke? hehe... And yes she makes delicious kerabu and sotong sumbat as well. And don’t make me start with the ketupat pulut during raya. Oh how miss those days, balik kampung time raya and buat ketupat ramai2 with mok.
She is also a strong woman and a good example for us in the family. She has been working day in day out, doing men’s job to feed mom and the siblings and provide a proper education for them. Mok buleh angkat 1 guni put getah tuh belakang dia ok. Her patients and intelligence are noticeable as not only she has become a wonderful mother and grandmother, she is also a great teacher to us. Teaching us about life and other values. She is capable of helping mom with her schoolwork although she herself didn’t have a proper education. See…she wanted to help to that extend.
Hmm…now everything will remain as the sweetest childhood memories. After her brave and continuous effort fighting the illness for nearly 3 months, she passed away peacefully at home at 4.15 p.m. yesterday. I am glad and sad at the same time. Glad that she no longer has to endure the pain, but sad as I will miss her terribly. Sad sbb tinggal mok sorang je yang ada, nenek, atuk, & ayah left us much earlier. But I’m proud to say that till now I have not yet shed a single drop of tear as I love her and think that she has suffered so much she deserved to go in peace. I know that she is in a better place now and Allah loves her even more. All I can do now is just pray for her. Will you all please recite Al-Fatihah for her, at least? She came late last yr before my parents left for Hajj and stayed with us for a while. And before she went back to kampung I told her to come again to our place. And she said “insyaAllah, kalau x mati lagi”. I was speechless, and that one last look when she hold syuhada (my daughter) just sort of explain the whole thing. I’m just glad that she managed to see her only cicit before she closed her eyes. And also we went home to see her in Feb when she was very ill, so I guess we all x rasa terkilan sgt sbb sempat jumpa.
Well, life has to go on. At least my parents wont be coming home with a heavy heart now. Mom & family have been taking good care of granma all these while and that’s what matters. Now, we will just leave the rest to Yang Maha Kuasa. Semoga roh Mok ditempatkan dikalangan orang2 yang beriman. Amin. Al-Fatihah…..
